The mission of the Baptist Institute of Pittsburgh is to glorify God by providing solid theological education to the Baptist and like-minded community of Pittsburgh and surrounding region. Our commitment is to uphold the inspired, authoritative, inerrant, and sufficient Word of God.
New for 2019-20: Saturday-only Intensive Classes
Driving to class on Friday night and the following Saturday may be a challenge for some of our students. Great news! Beginning in the Fall term 2019, class sessions will be held on three Saturdays per term. Friday evening classes have been eliminated. This means that students will only need to make the trip once a month to attend classes on scheduled Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Check out the revised schedule on our Classes page.
Scholarship Opportunities for SBC Members in Pennsylvania/South New Jersey
Members of churches cooperating with the Baptist Resource Network of Pennsylvania/South Jersey (BRN) may be eligible for financial assistance to pay for Baptist Institute classes. The BRN is partnering with the Baptist Institute to promote Baptist theological education for church leaders and members, particularly those in western Pennsylvania. Members of BRN (and SBC) cooperating churches can apply for financial assistance for Baptist Institute classes by contacting the Institute for an application form. Applications will be considered by the BRN on a first-come, first-served basis particularly for students with demonstrated financial need whose home churches are not able to provide assistance. The Baptist Institute welcomes opportunities to partner with other Baptist associations to the benefit of all students of Baptist and like-minded churches.
Board of Directors Makes Sweeping Changes to Emphasize Mission
Focusing on the mission of the Baptist Institute to strengthen Baptist believers in faith, doctrine, and unity, the Board of Directors enacted a set of critical resolutions including:
- Adopting a New Curriculum which solidifies our commitment to teaching Baptists and like-minded believers the biblical basis of why we believe what we believe.
- Reducing Tuition rates to make Baptist theological education affordable to as many people as possible.
- Building a Home Base and facilities for administration, teaching, library resources, and fellowship within the Pittsburgh region.
- Exploring Expansion and Accreditation either through formal affiliation with a Baptist seminary or forming an accredited seminary in our own right.
